Scale-up tool: From Lab to Pilot/Industry data

Scaling up energy balance data from laboratory to pilot or industrial scale often involves a high knowledge barrier and a lot of data input, such as the equilibrium data of your mixture, typically required by specialized tools like AspenPlus.
To address this in the context of my PhD, I have developed a tool that simplifies the process by leveraging thermodynamics and kinetics, making scale-up more accessible and efficient.

Key benefits:

  • Particularly effective for liquid-liquid mixtures.
  • Enables preliminary scale-up for operations such as reaction, distillation, drying, grinding, centrifugation, pumping, homogenization, and filtration.
  • Validated through four case studies published in leading international journals.
  • Accessible and user-friendly, Excel-based tool developed using VBA.

Teleworking vs presential work CO2e emissions

In today’s sustainability-driven landscape, understanding the environmental impact of work habits has become more critical than ever. As organizations face increasing pressure to publish their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including Scope 3 categories, it is essential to quantify and compare the carbon footprints of working from home versus working in the office.

To address this need, I am developing a Carbon Footprint Calculator designed to empower individuals and organizations to estimate emissions under various work scenarios. This tool will help provide actionable insights, enabling more informed decisions for reducing workplace-related emissions. Here’s a breakdown of how I’m approaching this tool: Teleworking vs presential work CO2e emissions.
